Video tutorial for Tarylynn 2.9
Frame

Review

This is official description

Tarylynn synchronises two folders and all subfolders within. Good for a quick backup to a network drive, or copying files to a laptop. No need to spend time trying to setup a windows briefcase. Because Tarylynn does not depend on a database like briefcase does, backups are more portable, and there is no single point of failure. If files exist on both sides, the file modified dates are compared and the newer one is copied across. When deleting, files existing on both sides are ignored regardless of modified dates. Tarylynn is very easy to use, just select the two folders to compare and choose to copy folder from the left to the right or vice versa. Tarylynn can even be scripted for automatic running. Useful for periodic backups, or for copying default user settings for software installation. Tarylynn also comes with a simple FTP mode. Great for updating webpages or accessing work servers when at home. Here are some key features of "Tarylynn": Tarylynn is easy to use. There is no need to setup complex rules before you work.

The following review written by one of the Software Informer contributors applies to version 2.8

Tarylynn is a simple yet efficient tool for managing files using the FTP, and doesn’t really require much effort from user’s side for setting up the application as well as its usage on a day-to-day basis. The tool comes with couple of preview modes, showing the details of the actions that the application would take up next, and also moreover it has timeframe stamp functionality, which doesn’t require the user to remember the set of operation performed last time.

Tarylynn can also be used for scripting itself for automatic usage, by simply creating a command file and calling with Tarylynn’s absolute path as argument. It is also helpful for the system administrators to back up files and setting-up default user environments.

The tool can also be used for adding a quit command at the end of the script, so as to enable an environment, wherein user interaction is not necessary essential. The application also allows the user to combine two or more actions into a single command file.

Therefore, although the application isn’t really a versatile one, it still manages to provide decent functionality, helping out the users with all FTP related actions.
  • Multiple actions can be scripted into one command file
  • Not versatile
